The two blue stripes on the flag symbolize peace and stability, yellow represents the rich mineral deposits of the country, and crimson red stands for all the battles throughout the country's history.

The white and black color of the shield symbolize the white and black population, living together in harmony. The shield itself and the spear represent the need to protect the population against enemies.

When Swaziland became a self-governing country on April the 25th, 1967, King Sobhuza II was declared head of state and the flag was raised for the first time. The flag was registered by the British College of Arms, albeit with minor differences, on October 30th, 1967.

2018 Swaziland changed it's name to Eswatini.
