Facts about the flag:
The inspiration for color and design is taken from the Russian flag, but in Serbia the color fields are placed in reverse order.
It is a tricolor in the traditional pan-Slavic colors; red, white and blue. The current national flag is the same as the one used prior to the division of Serbia and Montenegro.
The state flag is practically identical to the national flag, with the only difference being the positioning of the state weapon, which is slightly closer to the inner edge of the flag.
The flag was adopted on June 5th, 2006, when the union between Serbia and Montenegro dissolved. The flag resembles the one during the regnal years of the monarchs between 1882 and 1918. Later, the Yugoslav Committee was formed until 2003.
