Facts about the flag:
The Czech flag was adopted for the first time almost a year after Czechoslovakia gained independence from Austria-Hungary, a declaration formed at the end of World War I.
The earlier version was almost identical to the Polish flag, resulting in the addition of a new blue triangle, placed closed to the flagpole. This modification slowed down the process, which had to be rescheduled, hence the flag was not adopted until March 30th, 1920, with the proportions 2:3.
The flag has the traditional pan-Slavic colors of red, white and blue. It was reintroduced in 1945 after its ban during the Nazi period from 1938 to 1945. When Czechoslovakia was divided, the flag was kept, despite the agreement not to retain any previous symbols.
