The Chad flag was adopted on November 6th, 1959, in the proportions 2:3.

Like many other flags of several different nations, the Chad flag is also a tricolor. The three colors are blue, yellow and red, with every field of equal size. The far left field is blue, the center is yellow, and the far right field is red.

This flag has a mix of the traditional pan-African colors and the colors of the French tricolor, as Chad was once a French colony.

The yellow color of the flag symbolizes the sun and the country's deserts, the blue represents the sky and water in the southern areas, and the red stands for the blood spilled during the freedom fight.
